I decided to become a nurse practitioner because of my love for people. Nursing was fulfilling, however, I wanted to maximize the use of autonomy which included providing individualized care and educating patients on preventative care. Much of my inspirations have evolved from the storytelling of various patient populations, including old and young.I'm not just a care-giver doing something I love. I believe through collaborative care team efforts, patients can receive the best care available in the shortest length of time thus saving the patient time and money. I'm able to do that as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Patients can see that I truly care about their well-being; this creates trust. After many years of nurturing patients back to health I feel that as a nurse practitioner I would be able to engage more into the diagnostic aspect of patient care while continuing to provide a warm nurturing atmosphere.
