Overview

  • Dr. Loftfield was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, participating in the Sophomore Year Abroad Program at Centro Andino, University of New Mexico in Quito, Ecuador. She obtained her bachelors degree in chemistry from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque. Continuing her studies, Dr. Loftfield completed a fellowship in ocular pathology and an internship in medicine-ophthalmology at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Ochsner, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year, and then completed a glaucoma fellowship at Ochsner and the LSU Eye Center. After completing a retina fellowship at the Sydney Eye Hospital in Sydney, Australia, she worked for Project Orbis as a staff ophthalmologist based on an airplane in Africa and Central America. Dr. Loftfield speaks fluent English and Spanish. She is board certified in ophthalmology and has been on staff at Ochsner since 1990. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and her professional interest is in glaucoma related cases. Dr. Loftfield practices at Ochsner's main campus in New Orleans.'
