Overview

  • Dr. Alexandra T. Wright is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport. She completed her combined residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at Louisiana State University in New Orleans in 2016. Dr. Wright was honored to be selected as chief resident during her final year of residency whereby she was able to strengthen her leadership, communication, and administration skills. She is board-certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics and is currently a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. After completing her residency, Dr. Wright moved to Tampa and worked as a hospitalist in both internal medicine and pediatrics with the University of Florida. While she enjoyed her experience in Florida, she then decided to return home to New Orleans and focus on being a pediatric hospitalist at Ochsner Hospital for Children. Dr. Wright loves working in the hospital setting as she enjoys the team collaboration of everyone involved in taking care of the patients. She understands that being a child in the hospital is a difficult experience not only for the child but for the whole family, and she promises to work alongside the Ochsner team as well as family members to make the experience the best it can be for everyone involved. Dr. Wright also has a passion for international medicine and has been involved with medical trips to Kenya, Honduras, and Nicaragua. She was selected as the NMPRA International Health Travel Grant recipient during her residency which allowed her to work alongside a local pediatrician in Honduras for a month-long rotation; through this experience, she was able to broaden her Spanish language knowledge as well as improve her ability to take care of children in the setting of limited resources. Dr. Wright strives to use the skills that she has developed both locally and abroad to practice compassionate, efficient, and quality healthcare on a daily basis.
