Overview

  • Dr. Diogo Torres joined the Ochsner team as a gynecologic oncologist after completing his fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and residency at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. He specializes in the care of women with endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers and complex surgical needs. He provides minimally invasive surgical options to women, including robotic and laparoscopic-assisted procedures, and is trained in sentinel lymph node biopsy for uterine, cervical, and vulvar cancer. He also performs ovarian cancer debulking and radical procedures for other gynecologic cancers. Dr. Torres' research interests include quality improvement, enhanced recovery, and ovarian cancer molecular subtypes. His work has been presented at national and international conferences, and he has nearly a dozen peer-reviewed publications, two of which were the lead article in Gynecologic Oncology. He is also actively involved in professional societies and is a member of the NRG Ovarian Cancer Committee and the SGO Task Force. Dr. Torres believes in a team approach between physician and patient and always puts the patient's need first. His expertise is in robotic-assisted surgery for endometrial cancer and extensive ovarian cancer debulking for women with advanced and recurrent ovarian cancer. He is committed to offering comprehensive medical and surgical care and working with doctors, nurses, and support staff to help women make important decisions and receive personalized, evidence-based care. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and is excited to collaborate with physicians throughout Louisiana.
