Overview

  • Dr. Nyan Latt received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. After graduation, he worked as a medical officer in the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) at the Saint Ann's Bay Hospital in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica (West Indies) from 2007 to 2010. Following this, he completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Los Angeles Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He then completed an additional year of advanced hepatology and liver transplant fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Latt is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). He has been on staff at Ochsner since 2017. Dr. Latt is a key faculty and course director of the Gastroenterology/Hepatology Medical Specialty clerkship program. He is also a senior lecturer at Ochsner Clinical School, University of Queensland. He is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American Gastroenterological Association and American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Latt currently serves on the Portal Hypertension: Clinical and Experimental Special Interest Group- Communication Subcommittee. Dr. Latt's clinical specialties include chronic hepatitis C and B, liver transplantation, hepatocellular carcinoma, cirrhosis, portal hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NASH), autoimmune, and cholestatic liver diseases. He has published on chronic hepatitis C, cirrhosis and liver transplantation in peer-reviewed medical journals.
