Overview

  • Dr. Uma Menon is originally from India. She completed her neurology residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, followed by fellowship training in neurophysiology/epilepsy at Cleveland Clinic (OH) and Yale University. She has a Master's Degree in Healthcare from George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Menon was granted ‘Fellow' status by the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) and American Epilepsy Society (AES) in 2017. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been on staff at Ochsner since 2016. Dr. Menon was the Neurology Residency Program Director at Tulane University. She has been part of the Ethics Committee at Tulane and GWU hospitals, and an American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Palatucci Patient Advocacy Program graduate. She has advocated for patients and physicians in Louisiana with AAN's Neurology on the Hill program. Dr. Menon is actively involved with the Epilepsy Foundation and is a committee member of several neurological societies, including International League Against Epilepsy. Dr. Menon is involved in teaching medical students, residents, medical assistants, nurses, neurodiagnostic technologists, and others. She sees adult patients with seizures/epilepsy and has a special interest in women with epilepsy, young adults with epilepsy (transitioning from pediatric to adult care) as well as patients with seizures in the ICU.
