Overview

  • Dr. Deanna Elsea has enjoyed a long and successful career in medicine. Prior to joining Ochsner, she owned a clinic specializing in internal medicine in rural Tennessee for 10 years. She also served as Assistant Chief of Staff at Methodist Hospital in Fayette County, Tennessee, for six years before being promoted to Chief of Staff. Dr. Elsea enjoys being involved in the communities that she serves and shaping the future of healthcare! She was a part of the physician advisory board for Health Springs, a Medicare HMO, for five years. Dr. Elsea is passionate about working with medical students and has taught in several educational facilities including the University of Tennessee, Caribbean University, and Queensland University-Ochsner Health System. She has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians since 2017.In her own words, Dr. Elsea says I became a doctor because I want to help others. I have typically worked with underserved populations such as rural or inner-city populations. I have a special interest in diabetes, rheumatology and women's health. I choose to be a partner with my patients regarding their health care. We make decisions together about what is best for them and their current situations. I try to be very responsive to their needs.New Orleans has always held a special place in Dr. Elsea's heart and she and her family are thrilled to be part of this community.
