Overview

  • A Dallas native, Dr. Hicks was President of his class at the University of Texas Medical School. He completed his training in general surgery at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and trained in colon & rectal surgery at Ochsner. He is board certified in general and colon & rectal surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. His past leadership positions at Ochsner include the Board of Management of the Ochsner Clinic, where he has been on staff since 1982. Dr. Hicks is a recognized expert in diseases of the colon and rectum. His clinical research includes endoscopy and colorectal cancer. He has authored numerous articles for surgical texts, peer review journals and has edited a medical textbook on colorectal cancer. Dr. Hicks is a member of the Editorial Board of colon and rectal surgery's most prestigious medical journal. He is also on the clinical faculties of LSU and Tulane medical schools. He has been listed in Who's Who and Best Doctors in America and was also listed as one of "America's Top Surgeons" by the Consumer Research Council. Dr. Hicks was recently elected to the American Board of Rectal Surgery's Examination Committee and was chosen to be a Marshall for the 2002 American College of Surgeons Convocation for the induction of new fellows.
