Overview

  • Benjamin Browning, M.D. is a fellowship trained Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon. He completed his premedical studies at the University of Florida, earning a Bachelors in Health Science. He went on to attend medical school at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, earning a Masters of Science in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences as well as an M.D. degree. Following medical school, he moved to New York City and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. During residency he worked with local high school football teams providing team medical coverage during games. After residency, he obtained further subspecialty training as a Sports Medicine Fellow at the Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute in New Orleans, La. While there, he trained with Drs. Deryk Jones, Scott Montgomery, and Misty Suri. Fellowship training provided additional knowledge and skills in arthroscopic management of shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle injuries, management of cartilage injuries with cartilage repair/replacement/regeneration, and hip, knee, and shoulder replacement. As a fellow, Dr. Browning was a team physician with Belle Chase High school and provided game coverage for other local high schools. He was also an assistant team physician with the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans, as well as Dillard University. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and Arthroscopy Association of North American (AANA).
