Dr. Lara's special interests are fetal cardiology, research and medical education. He is the co-director of the Ochsner Fetal Diagnosis and Care Program. He is a site co-investigator in the Phase IIb Efficacy Study of Umbilical Cord Blood Mononuclear Cell Intramyocardial Injection for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and HLHS Variants trial. He serves as the pediatric clerkship director for the University of Queensland Ochsner Clinical School as well as the site director for the Tulane University School of Medicine pediatrics clerkship.
