Overview

  • Dr. Alvah Tyson Wickboldt, Jr. comes to Ochsner from Loma Linda University in southern California where he completed a residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Pain Medicine. He is board certified in Anesthesiology and an active candidate for certification in Pain Medicine. He currently practices at Ochsner medical centers in Kenner and Covington where he focuses on interventional therapies such as radiofrequency ablation of sensory nerves; various blocks; kyphoplasty with cooled ablation of tumors; neuromodulation; and optimization of pharmacological therapies.Dr. Wickboldt completed undergraduate training in Biology-Chemistry at Claremont McKenna College in southern California followed by a three year engagement as an organic and medicinal chemist at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical R&D during which he developed and patented novel drug targets for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Dr. Wickboldt obtained his MD from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and is a member of several organizations including the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He is a devoted husband and father of two lovely little girls with whom he enjoys bike riding, traveling, cooking, and reading.
