Overview

  • Dr. Rajiv Gala earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham in 2000. He then went on to complete his residency training at the University of Alabama - Birmingham in OB/GYN. He was honored with the title of Administrative Chief Resident and received the Organon Resident Research Award for Outstanding Research in Women's Health in 2004. After completing his training, Dr. Gala joined the faculty at The University of Texas Southwestern Department of Ob/Gyn and served as the Lead Gynecologist at Parkland Memorial Hospital prior to joining the staff at Ochsner Health Systems. He has been very involved with the American College Of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) where he served as the National JFCAC Chair from 2007 to 2008. He has also served on 3 national committees including Government Relations, ACOG/ABOG Committee, and on the Grievance Committee. Dr. Gala is dedicated to resident education and specifically the use of simulation to improve clinical competence and patient safety. Dr. Gala is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ob/Gyn and provides care to all low/moderate risk obstetric patients as well the full spectrum of gynecologic care. Dr. Gala has a special interest in minimally invasive gynecologic procedures.
