Abstract

  • Stroke or cerebrovascular accident is the second most common cause of death in Western countries. Although stroke is a treatable disease, the majority of patients do not receive intravenous thrombolysis or catheter-based therapy. The lack of treatment is multifactorial. Several treatments have been studied. Research and development in the area of acute stroke treatment are ongoing.; (J Interven Cardiol 2009;22:1-8).
